Wood Ranch is conveniently located in the hub of Mission Valley in Hazard Center. No need to stress about parking here because they have a very large and accommodating, not to mention free, parking lot.
Walking inside, you can get a feel for the different dining areas throughout the building. If you’re looking to have a chill dinner, try sitting outside on the enclosed patio. The bar inside can provide a great setting for just a drink or a quick turnaround for your meal. The dining tables inside speak to more of the the date night or family dinner crowd.
The bar definitely gets the Sandiegofoodgirl seal of approval. A good Bloody Mary on the menu is invaluable. Though it’s mostly a brunch drink, you can’t really go wrong with having one any time of day. If you’re looking for a cool and refreshing drink, the Newport Lemonade is a great way to go.
Wood Ranch specializes in BBQ and American cuisine and they’re making some great food. Let’s just take a minute to drool over the bread together.
These rolls are for the carb eating, gluten lovers out there. They arrive fresh out of the oven glistening with butter and herbs and really set the bar for the meal.
To start we had some amazing BBQ Chicken Potato Skins. These crispy bad boys were stuffed with BBQ chicken goodness. They took a staple appetizer and elevated the quality and taste. Also, do your tastebuds a favor and order a side of the Grilled Balsamic Shrimp. The balsamic flavor truly enhances the already delicious shrimp.
When you’re doing BBQ, you have to go big or go home, right? So needless to say I had to order the Wood Ranch BBQ Combo. The Carolina Pulled Pork and the BBQ Half Chicken were my favorites. Be sure to try both their Original and Chipotle-Cherry BBQ sauces.
If you’re looking for more of a sandwich, but one that’s super loaded too, I’d suggest The Ultimate. You’ll definitely get your BBQ fix with this meat stuffed, toasted brioche bun including pulled pork, brisket, and kielbasa…it’s definitely a mouthful!
Make sure to save some room though because you don’t wanna leave without having dessert. The Warm Chocolate Cake may sound a little simple, but I promise this flourless cake adorned with candies pecans will make your tastebuds dance.

As a diner, the overall experience matters. From the moment you are greeted by the hostess and introduced to your server, the fluidity of these interactions often set the tone for your meal.
We had incredible service from our waitress. She was well versed in the menu and able to recommend items and give feedback about them as well. Not only did she suggest the awesome Potato Skins, but also the Newport Lemonade, and dessert which were all great choices.
