I hadn’t been to Callaway in a couple of years, so I was eager to sample their wines again. If you enjoy wine tasting like me, it’s always a fun little game to see how much your palate has changed since the last time.
Wine tasting as you know, works up an appetite with all those bicep curls, so off to Meritage Restaurant at Callaway. The restaurant is thoroughly equipped with misting fans for those warm Temecula days.
Meritage has a delicious menu. If you’re looking for a few appetizers, allow me to direct your attention to the Blue Claw Crab Cakes, Blackened Ahi, Ceviche, and the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. They were all full of flavor and delicious.
While wine tasting, Tyler recommended that we try the Beer Battered Avocado Salad. The avocado just melted in your mouth with each bite and really complimented the roasted garlic and Gorgonzola.
We just went in for bites, but couldn’t leave without dessert. Desserts of the day included Creme Brulee and Cannoli.
What a wonderful day spent in Temecula Wine Country. We enjoyed a really beautiful day of wine tasting and eating at Callaway Winery and Meritage. Temecula is amazing, but I’m also super excited to see their new Tasting Room opening up soon in the Gaslamp Quarter, downtown San Diego. Can’t wait to get my hands on another glass of Chardonnay. Cheers!
